We would like to thank everyone who participated in our four-day May public auction. Virtually all of the 1490 lots sold, with total realization topping $1,800,000 inclusive of the buyer’s premium. The specialized lots on offer, from rare single stamps to intact exhibit collections, attracted bidders from around the world, many of whom participated in our webcast live auction sessions.

We are extremely pleased with the overall results on such a highly diversified range of lots. Extensive promotion and advertising started several months before the sale, which we believe is one of the key ingredients for success.

During the auction, we saw many surprising results and trends. For example, specialized Canada Decimal, Large Queen and Small Queen postal history often brought well over pre-sale estimates. Grouped lots and intact collections, spread throughout the catalogue, were keenly sought-after, peaking at Lot 1077 – an intact Admiral postal history exhibit collection that sold for $85,000 ($100,725 inclusive of buyer’s premium) against a pre-sale estimate of $50,000. We invite anyone who has a collection but is uncertain how to go about selling to peruse the prices realized report and see firsthand that large lots & intact collections fared particularly well.

Preparation of our October & November auctions is well underway. The fourth and final part of the Brigham Estate Province of Canada will occur on Friday, October 4. It will be followed the next day by the first of a sensational four-part auction series presenting the Denninger Collection of Canada and Provinces. This first sale will feature British Columbia, Newfoundland (excluding airmail) and Maritime Provinces. The collection is one of the most comprehensive ever formed, with mint, used and on-cover examples collected to an astonishing degree of completeness. A promotional brochure giving further details of this fabulous collection will be mailed out in the next few weeks.

We are actively soliciting consignments for our next available auction. Should you have any questions regarding consigning, we would be happy to hear from you. The upcoming series of sales will generate heightened attention and participation from collectors; these observations alone will offer a clear advantage to any prospective consignor and a golden opportunity not to be missed.
